Scenery Installation: A Rough Guide
By Tony Meredith

The picture below is for guide purposes only to enable you to correctly set-up the
directory/sub-director structure within FSX. (There are other ways).

Under Addon Scenery create a director; my directory is EGFE Haverfordwest. (Please
use whatever name you require in place of this).
Under this create a sub-directory that
MUST be called ‘scenery’

Place the files from the ‘zip file’ into the EGFE Haverfordwest\ scenery directory.

Start FSX and click on Settings (red arrow)

Next Select: Scenery Library

Then select ADD AREA

Then select the directory. In this example EGFE Haverfordwest. Do NOT select the
scenery sub directory.

Click OK and OK again to get back to the Main Settings Screen. Before returning you to
the main screen FSX will update its library settings with the new files.

You may now select Free Flight and if you wish EGFE as your start point.

If you are installing Runway12 Libraries you should follow the included instructions
which are similar but not exactly identical to the above.

I have my items installed in a ‘Static Objects Library’ with two sub folders, Scenery and
Texture.

I unpacked the libraries to a temporary location and moved the textures to the ‘SOL’
\textures sub directory and the .bgl files to the scenery sub folder.

Having gone through all the above many people, and quite a few on the Horizon Forum
site advocate having all files in the master Scenery and Texture folders already present
within the Addon Scenery Folder. Either should work correctly.

Folder location for my Runway12 items: -

The Runway12 files are available from Avsim. If you search for the following file it has
links to the other in the library. There are three in the series that form the ‘base’ pack. My
readme file always contains details of which files have been used.

rwy12_lib1_v1.2.zip
rwy12_lib2_v1.2.zip
rwy12_lib3_v1.2.zip

They can also be accessed via the file: rwy12_program_v1.2.zip which cross references
them all.

There are more files available. The above form the ‘base’ pack.
