HMS Heron is located near Yeovil, Somerset consisting of 1,000 acres of airfield sites plus ranges and minor estates. Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton is a largemulti-role air station with an annual budget of some £61 million. It is home to Royal Navy (RN) Lynx Helicopters and RN Commando Helicopter Force.Includes agn tree file by John Brain which may be used without the airfield if so required.

Originally RAF Hartfordbridge the airfield was opened in 1942. Used as a base for Spitfires and Mosquitos it was also home to the ‘Free French Squadron (Lorraine)’Since 1960 the airfield has been in Private ownership. Subsequently taken over by British Car Auctions it has been developed in recent years.

Now operated by TAG the site has been associated with aircraft development since 1918. The site is now designated for small commercial use but is still home to one of the greatest airshows held world wide.

The Royal Air Force Fast Jet Training Centre together with it’s satellite station. My thanks go to Ted Andrews for allowing me to include his RAF Hangars with this scenery. The two AFD files should remain in the same scenery file as they share the same blend file and scenery files. The RAF Hangar file should be expanded to your Static Objects scenery and Texture folders.

Once known as RAF Llandwrog. During the Second World War the airfield was home to Bomber Command where gunners, radio operators and navigators were trained before being sent on their missions. This was the ‘original’ home of the RAF Mountain Rescue teams.

One of the most famous Airfields in Britain. Pivotal to the defence of London during WWII, it is now an Airport, hosting aircraft from around the world and having it’s own Terminal Building and Customs post. The airport has been the set for many films including The Davinci Code.

Opened in 1929 by the Avro Aircraft Company. The airfield has undergone many changes and produced many fine aircraft including the Lancaster, Shackleton, Vulcan, Nimrod and HS146. Today it is a BAE Production Center.

Originally RAF Crosby-on-Eden, this airfield has been owned by Carlisle Council since 1960. Recently expansion plans have been announced to rebuild/implement a new runway, build a new passenger and freight terminal and introduce schedule flights. The site is home to a thriving flight school and is used at weekend as a parachute centre.

Home to the Lightning, Nimrod, TSR2, Panavia Tornado and Typhoon. Many aircraft have been developed at this site since 1947. The airfield now has an assortment of aircraft parking options including 11 Military Combat, 5 Military Transport, 2 Large Commercial, 2 GA and 1 Helipad.To bring the site to life why not include AI Typhoons from UKMIL. File ukmiltifaifs9.zip will give you active aircraft. The UKMIL included Traffic File is in FS9 format. Not to worry, a full FSX traffic file is included with the airfield files should you wish to use it.

Opened in 1941 as a night fighter base for the defense of Liverpool. The site originally had 3 runways but this has been reduced to two active in recent years. The site is now used by ACFT, University Air Squadron and as a RAF air traffic control centre.Bonus File Updated 19:20 26/11/07: Birkdale Sands. Now connected to the shore and only a beach width. Land short and you will get your feet wet! You could if you wish use the adjacent float plane dock. Located South East of RAF Woodvale the centre was opened in 1992 and employs 3 full time Instructor. Of the three grass strips, 18/36 is the most interesting being of 380m length. Takeoff from 36 requires accurate climb out to ensure missing power cables located almost immediately across the river boundary. The poles and cables are in place and crash detection is active! The nearby village and several farms are also modelled. The main village street has night lighting.

Opened in 1909 this was the home of the original Official Airshow. It was attended by over 200,000 people. Following WWII usage it was taken over by Blackpool Corporation and subsequently became a Limited Company. In recent years he has been subject to a multi million pound investment program and now handles over 2 million passengers a year.
